ENGLISH FOR TOURISM

HIGH TECHNICIAN IN TRAVEL AGENCIES AND EVENT MANAGEMENT

The English module is based on the 8/2010 Decree of March 2010

Our final objective is to enable our students to communicate fluently in their future working environment with any colleague or client.

Some of the contents include:

  • Jobs in the tourism sector
  • Accommodation
  • Searching for a job
  • Creating and selling a tourism product
  • Planning an event

Through the use of task-based learning and a participation-friendly environment, we equip students with the vocabulary, expressions and cultural awareness necessary for them to seamlessly enter a profession that becomes more global every day. Our students prepare presentations on destinations the world over, design tourist itineraries, simulate real-world situations that they will face in their careers and undertake any number of activities in an environment in which English is the working language.

Below you can find a video about working as an event planner. Examples such as this will allow you to learn about the reality of the sector in which you have chosen to work and debate on its evolution with our native conversation assistant.

HIGH TECHNICIAN IN TOUR GUIDING, TOURIST INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE.

This English module is based on the 9/2010 Decree.

Our objective is to provide our students with the language skills necessary to offer a quality service to tourists from all over the world in the lingua franca of the day: English.

We begin the course with a general overview of the tourism sector, progressing through the year into more specialized knowledge that will allow our students to work as tourist guides or tourist information officers.

Contents include:

  • Jobs in the tourism sector
  • Types of travel
  • Searching for a job
  • Tourist routes in Madrid
  • Museums and exhibitions
  • Fielding tourist enquiries
Our methodology seeks to mirror the professional needs of our students and is normally based on the development of projects to be presented in class before peers and teachers (destination presentations, work-situation drills and activities in which English is used as the workplace language). We create an environment in which, through the use of the vocabulary, expressions and language of the future profession, our students leave the school ready to face their future duties with confidence.
Below, you can find a video in which an American tour guide in Florence shares her experience of showing tourists from all over the world around the Tuscan capital.
